Sample Scans Of Arthur's Primary Source Letters Home from World War 1 February, 1915
Arthur was a prolific writer, the scans below give an idea of the task I have in transcribing these letters. The letter below dated 7th February 1915 is typical and was in an envelope together with another dated 10th February, many other envelopes contain more than one letter. Some of the letters are shorter than these, many others are a lot longer and as you will see I have only partly transcribed and published many of the letters. I have over 170 letters in total, only 80 or so are partly transcribed and on this website.
Arthur was very well connected and knew a huge number of people, and in the year preceding WW1 travelled all over the world, consequently his letters are very useful for family history and genealogy research as well as military and social history.

This letter was sent from London a few days before Arthur embarked from Southampton for Havre, France.
